India is set to host the second edition of World Food India 2023 in New Delhi from November 3 to 5, 2023.
India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world. With the budding opportunities here, India is set to host the second edition of World Food India 2023 in New Delhi from November 3 to 5, 2023. The food forum is an effort to present the potential of the sector to global stakeholders. Showcasing a collaborative approach of the Government, 11 Central Ministries/Departments and their associated autonomous bodies are participating in this edition.
So far participants from 23 States/ UTs and 16 countries have agreed to participate in the program and more participants are expected to join in the next few days.
Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Prahlad Singh Patel informed that the representatives from other countries will also participate in this event on a large scale. About 10 foreign ministerial and official delegations from many countries are set to register their participation. He also informed that under this event, a Reverse Buyer Seller Meet is also being organized in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and its associated Commodity Boards and about 1000 foreign buyers from more than 75 countries are expected to participate in it. Overall, more than 900 delegates are expected to participate in the event.
Exhibitions will be organized in the open spaces of Pragati Maidan and Bharat Mandapam. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries is organizing the 2nd edition of this global mega food event at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the program on November 3 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan.
On the occasion, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Pashupati Kumar Paras will also be present. Then on, President Droupadi Murmu will deliver her address at the closing ceremony of the program on November 5. The Netherlands is the ‘Partner Country’ in this edition of World Food India, while Japan and Vietnam are the ‘Focus Countries’.
The highlight of the event will be the experiential Food Street powered by celebrity chef Ranveer Brar, which will be a special attraction for food enthusiasts and industry professionals. Divided into three sections, there will feature food theatre focusing on grains or millets. Further, there will also be pavilions showcasing regional cuisines cooked in different parts of the country as well as pavilions showcasing the heritage of India’s royal cuisine ranging from street food.
Apart from this, 60 to 80 chefs will together try to make the world’s longest millet dosa with the aim of setting a Guinness record. This millet dosa will be more than 100 feet long, which will testify to the dedication and skill of this team of cooks.
To celebrate the International Year of Millets 2023, a massive installation of 50,000 tetra-packs of millet-based beverages will be created, which will then be distributed among underprivileged children. More than 75,000 people are expected to attend this three-day event. On this occasion, dance and musical programs will also be organised.
