India strongly advocates the P3 (Pro Planet People) approach and remains committed to sharing its experiences and learnings with the world in its journey towards a ‘Circular Economy,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday.
PM Modi conveyed a specially written message to the delegates attending the three-day 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia in Jaipur.
In his message, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) principles and the Circular Economy in fostering sustainable urban development and resource efficiency. He also highlighted India’s leadership in global sustainability efforts, including Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and the Panchamrit Goals announced at COP26, reaffirming India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.
Union Minister Manohar Lal, addressing the gathering, described Jaipur as an ideal venue for the forum, citing the city’s deep-rooted sustainability traditions, such as rainwater harvesting and handicrafts made from recycled materials.
Advancing PM Modi’s vision, he announced the launch of the Cities Coalition for Circularity (C-3), a multi-nation alliance aimed at fostering city-to-city collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and private sector partnerships.
“We propose that a working group of member nations be formed after this forum to finalize the coalition’s structure and operational framework,” he said.
The forum aims to serve as a catalyst for resource efficiency and a low-carbon economy, strengthening collaboration between policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers to build a more sustainable future.
“Circular Economy is not just an environmental responsibility but an economic necessity,” Manohar Lal emphasized.
He also highlighted India’s initiatives in bio-CNG, plastic waste management, and e-waste recycling, reaffirming the government’s commitment to developing a low-carbon, resource-efficient society.
The Union Minister announced that the forum would adopt the Jaipur Declaration (2025-2034), a non-political, non-binding commitment that will guide the next decade’s efforts towards resource efficiency and sustainable urban development.
