Indian biotech startups unveil 11 new products at Global Bio-India 2024

The fourth edition of Global Bio-India 2024 concluded successfully at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, showcasing India’s growing biotech capabilities. Organized by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, in partnership with the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), the event ran from 12th to 14th September and brought together national and international stakeholders in the biotechnology sector.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, inaugurated the three-day event, which emphasized India’s strength in biotech innovation and bio-manufacturing, key areas driving the nation’s bioeconomy.

A major highlight of the event was the launch of 11 new biotech products by Indian startups, underlining the country’s emerging talent in biosciences. The event also saw the exchange of Letters of Intent between BIRAC, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, and IPE Global to promote co-funding partnerships.

The valedictory session honored various contributors to the biotech industry with several prestigious awards, including the BIRAC Innovators Awards, Best Startup Exhibitor Awards, Best Incubator Exhibitor Awards, and the BioE3 Competition Awards. Additionally, new calls for proposals were announced under two government programs: i4 (Innovation for Industry) and PACE (Promoting Academic Collaboration and Entrepreneurship), further reinforcing the government’s commitment to fostering innovation in the sector.
