IndiaSkills Competition 2024, the nation’s largest skill event, is set to kick off from Wednesday in New Delhi. Organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), this event promises to highlight the best in skill development across the country. Over 900 students from 30 states and Union Territories, along with 400 industry experts, will participate in this grand event.
Lasting four days, IndiaSkills will feature competitions in 61 skills, ranging from traditional crafts to modern technologies. While 47 competitions will be held onsite, 14 will take place offsite in states like Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat, ensuring access to top-notch infrastructure. Additionally, participants will engage in 9 exhibition skills such as Drone-Film making, Textile-Weaving, Leather-Shoemaking, and prosthetics-makeup.
Participants have been trained in various institutions including ITIs, NSTIs, Polytechnics, engineering institutes, nursing institutes, and biotechnology institutes, reflecting the high-quality training available in India’s skill network.
Winners of IndiaSkills will receive training from industry experts to prepare for the WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France, in September 2024, where they will compete with representatives from over 70 countries.
This year, participants can earn credits within the National Credit Framework, aligning with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and enhancing their career prospects. The competition also introduces a new competition information system called Qrencia.
Over 2.5 lakh candidates registered on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) Portal, with 26,000 being shortlisted. This inclusive selection process fosters a spirit of competition and promotes aspirations for skill development among youth. By providing diverse opportunities and fostering a competitive yet collaborative environment, IndiaSkills lays a solid foundation for a skilled workforce that can drive national progress and innovation.
Supported by over 400 industry and academic partners including Toyota Kirloskar, Autodesk, JK Cement, Maruti Suzuki, and Loreal, IndiaSkills 2024 is poised to not only inspire the youth but also recognize and celebrate India’s real skill heroes, who serve as ambassadors for ‘New India’.
