IPL 2026: Batters, Rashid, Prasidh star as GT edge DC by one run in a humdinger

In a nail-biting IPL 2026 clash, Gujarat Titans pipped Delhi Capitals by one run at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, courtesy of a decisive final-over run-out. Needing two off the last two balls, David Miller refused a single, only for Prasidh Krishna to outfox him with a slower delivery, before Jos Buttler’s quick underarm throw ran out Kuldeep Yadav.

Set 211, Delhi were powered by KL Rahul’s fluent 92 off 52 balls and a late blitz from Miller, who returned after retiring hurt to smash 41 not out off 20. The equation came down rapidly in the penultimate over, where Miller took 23 off Mohammed Siraj, but Gujarat held their composure in the final moments. Earlier, Rashid Khan’s decisive spell of 3/17, including two wickets in the 10th over, turned the game on its head just as Delhi looked to be cruising.

Gujarat’s total of 210/4 was built on collective batting effort, led by Shubman Gill’s 70 off 45 and Jos Buttler’s explosive 52 off 27. Washington Sundar chipped in with a 32-ball 55 as he stitched a 104-run stand with Gill, laying the platform for a strong finish. Despite Lungi Ngidi’s tidy spell at the death, GT managed to add 58 runs in the last six overs to push past the 200-mark.

Delhi’s chase began in a blaze, with Pathum Nissanka and Rahul taking charge in the powerplay. Rahul, in particular, looked in complete control, mixing timing with aggression to keep the required rate in check. But the middle overs proved decisive as Rashid struck twice in quick succession, removing Nitish Rana and Sameer Rizvi, before returning to dismiss Axar Patel.

With wickets falling at the other end, Rahul carried the chase deep before edging behind off Siraj for 92. Tristan Stubbs’ run-out further dented Delhi, but Miller’s late charge nearly flipped the script. In the end, though, Gujarat’s discipline under pressure ensured they walked away with their first win of the season, leaving Delhi to rue a game that slipped away in the final moments.
