J-K poll results: NC’s Tanvir Sadiq wins from Zadibal Assembly constituency

National Conference (NC) leader Tanvir Sadiq won the Zadibal Assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, securing victory by a margin of 16,173 votes over the People’s Conference candidate Abid Hussain Ansari, according to the Election Commission website.

Sadiq said that he will raise the people’s voice in the Assembly.

“I am thankful to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for giving the mandate to me. I assure them that I will raise their voice in the Assembly. I am happy with the way the mandate has been given to the National Conference,” Sadiq told the reporters.

As per the latest updates, the NC-Congress alliance is leading or has won 48 of the 90 Assembly seats, while BJP candidates are ahead or have won in 29 constituencies.

In response to the trends showing the NC-Congress alliance’s strong performance, NC chief Farooq Abdullah appeared on the balcony of his residence to greet supporters, demonstrating the party’s strength.

The voting results decide the electoral fate of several former ministers including Tara Chand, Muzaffar Baig, Raman Bhalla, Basharat Bukha along with Omar Abdullah, Ravinder Raina, Yousuf Tarigami and several others.

Jammu and Kashmir Congress Chief Tariq Hameed Karra expressed optimism about the alliance surpassing 50 seats, stating that the partners would soon discuss power-sharing arrangements. He criticized the nomination of five MLA seats by the Lieutenant Governor, calling it “pre-meditated” and a manipulation of the electoral process.
