Lok Sabha polls: Jailed Pro-Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh leads from Khadoor Sahib seat with over 50,000 votes

Jailed Khalistani separatist and Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh is leading with 50,405 votes from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib seat, according to the latest trends from the Election Commission of India.

Amritpal, contesting as an independent candidate, was arrested by Punjab police in April last year, weeks after evading the authorities for over a month. The stringent National Security Act was invoked against him following his arrest.

The Khadoor Sahib seat was won by Congress’ Jasbir Singh Gill in 2019. The party has nominated Kuldeep Singh Zira from the constituency this time, while the BJP has nominated Manjit Singh Manna. AAP has fielded Laljit Singh Bhullar, and the Akali Dal is represented by Virsa Singh Valtoha.
