MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan flags off trial run of Bhopal Metro

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today flagged off the trial run of the Bhopal Metro train at Subhash Nagar in the city.

During the event, CM Chouhan also performed a ceremonial worship before giving the green signal for the metro train. He even took a ride on the metro train and assessed the arrangements and facilities.

The occasion was graced by the presence of various public representatives, high-ranking officials, and esteemed residents of the city.

CM Chouhan remarked, “Bhopal is embarking on a new transportation revolution. We’ve delivered on our promises, and today, the metro is ready for trial. Madhya Pradesh, once plagued by potholes, now boasts a state-of-the-art metro system.”

He also emphasized that the metro wouldn’t be confined to the city alone; plans include extending it to Mandideep and Sehore, and possibly even up to Vidisha.

“I extend my congratulations to the entire team for the swift construction of the metro in the city. The metro ensures safe travel, operates automatically, eliminates the fear of road accidents, and provides a secure environment for the elderly and women,” the CM stated.

“It’s a convenient mode of transportation, significantly reducing travel time. It’s fully equipped, offering a comfortable and cost-effective alternative to four-wheelers and other modes of transport. This journey will not only be affordable but also a visually pleasing experience,” Chouhan added.

The Bhopal Metro, spanning a distance of 31 km, is being developed at a cost of Rs 6,940 crore.
