Nations responding to changing global order as per their specific situations, exploring new partnerships: EAM at Raisina Middle East

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said the countries are responding to the changing global order according to their specific situations, exploring new partnerships and fresh options. He cited the India-UAE partnership of the last decade as a great example of the two nations responding to the changing global environment.

Dr. Jaishankar is on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates from 14th to 16th October, 2026 to participate in the 2nd edition of Raisina Middle East event. He arrived in Abu Dhabi last evening and was welcomed upon arrival by UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy.

Speaking at the Raisina Middle East event in Abu Dhabi, Jaishankar joined UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan for a session on ‘The World Ahead: Power, Purpose & Possibility’.

In their conversation, Dr. Jaishankar said it is important to recognise the pace of change in the global order, which reflects both long-term trends and immediate shocks. He noted that the countries respond to this according to their specific situations, exploring partnerships and fresh options in that pursuit.

This also involves going beyond traditional comfort zones and developing sharper strategic awareness, he added. He further underlined the importance of urgent reform of multilateralism, supported through stronger minilateralism.
