New Delhi’s air quality improves to ‘poor’; expert warns of bad days ahead

Smog persisted in parts of New Delhi on Sunday (November 12) with air quality recorded as 'poor.'

Experts warned of bad days ahead as forecasts warn of 'very poor' category air in the Indian capital.

The SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research) monitoring agency recorded the air quality as 'poor' on Sunday with PM-10 levels at 209 and PM 2.5 at 112.

The air quality in Delhi as per SAFAR was 283 while anything above 60 is considered unhealthy.

Air quality in the plains of northern India worsens every winter when cold air traps emissions from multiple sources including vehicles, industries, construction dust and agricultural waste burning.
