Over 50 missing after cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh

More than 50 people are missing in Himachal Pradesh following a cloudburst over the Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu districts.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukkhu said that rescue and relief operations are ongoing.

Earlier, Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that two bodies were recovered after heavy rain.

The Mandi police stated in a press release that two houses were washed away and one was partially damaged in Rajban village.

Union Health Minister and BJP President JP Nadda urged all BJP workers to assist in rescue and relief efforts in the state. He spoke with Himachal CM Sukhwinder Sukhu, offering central government support.

Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, Jairam Thakur, expressed sorrow over the loss of life and property in Rajban village and urged the state government to conduct relief and rescue operations urgently.

The Mandi district administration has warned residents to stay away from the Beas River as the gates of the Pandoh Dam are being opened.
