Phase 2 Nominations Open: 88 Constituencies, 12 States/UTs

The filing of nominations for the second phase of General Elections is set to commence tomorrow following the issuance of a Gazette notification by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for Phase 2.

A total of 88 Parliamentary Constituencies spread across 12 States/Union Territories, along with one part of Manipur (Outer Manipur), are slated to go to polls in this phase on April 26, 2024. The last date for filing nominations in Phase 2 for all 12 States/UTs is April 4, 2024.

The scrutiny of nominations for all 11 States/UTs, excluding Jammu & Kashmir, is scheduled for April 5, 2024, while for J&K, it will take place on April 6, 2024.

It’s noteworthy that the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, which consists of 15 Assembly Constituencies, will witness polls in two phases. While 15 ACs will go to polls on April 19, 2024 (Phase 1), the remaining 13 ACs in this PC will participate in the electoral process on April 26, 2024 (Phase 2).

The States/UTs included in Phase 2 are Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, in addition to one part of Manipur (Outer Manipur).
