41-year-old Pravin Thool, hailing from Master Colony Sawangi Meghe, Wardha, has transformed his small-scale pickle venture into a flourishing business, all thanks to the training he received from MGIRI (Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization).
Pravin, with a background in higher secondary school education, initially faced challenges in ensuring batch uniformity in his pickle production. Seeking a solution, he turned to “District Udyog Kendra, Wardha,” where he learned about MGIRI's training program in “Various types of Pickles” under the guidance of Dr. Aprajita Vardhan.
After completing the training in the period of April 2015 to March 2016, Pravin commenced pickle production in Master Colony Sawangi Meghe, Wardha, with a daily capacity of 100 kg. His monthly turnover now stands at a commendable 1.5 lakh rupees, with a profit ranging between 40-45 thousand rupees. Providing employment to four individuals, Pravin's success story is a testament to the positive impact of skill development and entrepreneurship.
With the support of Mudra loan scheme, Pravin kick-started his venture under the brand name “SUMEDHA GRUH UDYOG,” engaging in local and state-level marketing. His pickle range includes Mango, Chilli, Citrus, and Carrot pickles.
Despite facing production challenges initially, MGIRI played a crucial role in guiding Pravin through the intricacies of pickle manufacturing. The Bio-processing and Herbal division at MGIRI continues to provide technical support, ensuring the continued success of his business.
With a vision for expansion, Pravin aims to scale up his operations, exploring the production of additional pickle varieties.
