Piyush Goyal holds talks with CEOs of Micron, YouTube

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, currently on a visit to the United States, held one-to-one meetings with Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology, and Neil Mohan, CEO of YouTube on Wednesday. Goyal discussed the prospects of these companies in the Indian market and offered support for their expansion.

In discussions with Micron, Goyal emphasized the vast opportunities presented by India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem for collaboration and business expansion. In conversations with Mohan, the minister underscored India’s potential in its thriving digital ecosystem, growing content space, and young and diverse demography.

Goyal also met with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and venture capitalists (VCs) of Indian origin. During the meeting, Goyal encouraged participants to contribute their ideas to enhance India's appeal as an investment destination for global investors. The minister also shared his vision for the Indian startup ecosystem and urged entrepreneurs and VCs present to actively contribute to India’s burgeoning talent pool in critical and emerging technological areas, such as Artificial Intelligence.

In addition, Goyal participated in a roundtable discussion with prominent academicians at Stanford University. Members from various universities, including Stanford, UC Berkeley, Fresno State, UC Santa Cruz, UC Davis, and the University of Silicon Andhra, deliberated on relevant global issues. The roundtable featured a dynamic exchange of ideas on potential collaborations between India and foreign universities, including the establishment of joint campuses with institutions like Stanford.

Goyal attended the event “Charting New Horizons: CAs as Catalysts in the US-India Partnership,” hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI) San Francisco Chapter. The session included an interactive discussion with ICAI members, where the minister highlighted the pivotal role that chartered accountants can play in enhancing collaboration between India and the US.
