PM Modi announces free online coaching for competitive exams

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced free online coaching for various competitive examinations, saying the initiative would help ease the financial burden on poor and middle-class families.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on India’s 80th Independence Day, PM Modi said the cost of coaching classes had become a burden for many families.

“Coaching classes burden the poor and the middle class. We will provide free online coaching for various exams,” the Prime Minister said.

He said many parents feel compelled to send their children to coaching classes due to social pressure.

“Every parent feels that if they do not send their child to a coaching class, they are not a prestigious family,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister said the initiative would enable families to save significant amounts of money while allowing parents to remain closer to their children.

“And therefore, we have decided to provide free online coaching for various examinations for the youth. We have digital public infrastructure; we have excellent talent and teachers. By bringing these resources together, we are going to build a complete network to provide free coaching to the youth of the country,” he said.

The announcement was part of PM Modi’s broader Independence Day address, in which he placed a strong emphasis on India’s youth and their role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
