Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed deep grief over the tragic mishap in Andhra Pradesh’s Markapuram district, extending his condolences to the families of the victims.
In a message shared by the Prime Minister’s Office on X, he said the incident was deeply saddening and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Prime Minister also announced financial assistance for the affected families.
An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be provided to the next of kin of each deceased, while those injured in the mishap will receive Rs 50,000.
The accident occurred near Rayavaram at around 6:30 a.m. when a bus collided with a tipper truck near a stone quarry. Both vehicles were completely gutted in the fire.
There were 35 passengers on board the bus, which belonged to Harikrishna Travels, at the time of the collision. Fifteen passengers were injured and were shifted to the government hospital in Markapuram.
