Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday embarked on an official visit to France from February 10 to 12, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will co-chair the highly anticipated AI Action Summit in Paris, alongside world leaders and global tech CEOs. The summit will focus on fostering a collaborative approach to artificial intelligence (AI) technology, emphasizing innovation, inclusivity, security, and trust. The goal is to explore how AI can drive global progress and contribute to the public good.
In addition to the summit, the bilateral portion of the visit will provide an opportunity for both leaders to review the ongoing developments under the 2047 Horizon Roadmap for the India-France strategic partnership. This roadmap aims to further strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in key sectors such as trade, technology, and defense.
As part of the official visit, Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will travel to the historic French city of Marseille. Both leaders will inaugurate the first Indian Consulate in France, marking a significant milestone in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries. Additionally, the Indian Prime Minister will visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, a major multinational effort in which India is a key partner. The ITER project aims to harness nuclear fusion energy for global benefit, and India’s involvement underscores its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The visit will also include a tribute to Indian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I and II. PM Modi will pay respects at the Mazargues War Cemetery in Marseille, honoring the bravery of Indian soldiers who fought in the wars.
Following the France visit, PM Modi will travel to the United States for a two-day official visit at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump. This marks the first meeting between the two leaders following President Trump’s electoral victory and inauguration in January 2025. PM expressed a strong desire to build upon the successful collaboration established during President Trump’s first term, especially in strengthening the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the United States.
Discussions between PM Modi and President Trump will center on expanding the partnership in areas such as technology, trade, defense, energy, and supply chain resilience. The visit aims to further deepen the strategic ties between the two nations and shape a brighter future for both countries, as well as for the global community.
