PM Modi departs for India after US visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for New Delhi after completing his visit to the United States.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared on X, “PM @narendramodi emplanes for New Delhi after successfully concluding a productive & substantive visit to USA.”

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri provided an overview of the visit, stating that PM Modi met several prominent figures, including newly confirmed Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

Misri highlighted that the extensive four-hour discussions at the White House covered strategic and security cooperation, defence, trade, economic engagement, technology, energy security, and regional and global issues.

Addressing a press briefing, Misri said, “The PM has concluded a very substantive and productive visit to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This is his first visit since President Trump’s second-term inauguration. The visit reflects the priority both leaders place on the India-US relationship.”

PM Modi and US President Trump shared a hug as they met at the White House. Trump described the relationship between the two nations as one of “great unity and friendship” and emphasized the importance of staying united.

During their meeting, PM Modi expressed his delight at Trump’s return to the White House and conveyed confidence in the continued growth of India-US ties. He also noted that his re-election for a third consecutive term marked a historic moment for India.

PM Modi is among the first world leaders to visit the US following President Trump’s second-term inauguration, arriving within three weeks of the new administration taking office. (ANI)
