The launch in these states was delayed due to the model code of conduct enforced during the recent assembly elections. The yatra, aimed at empowering citizens about government schemes, had already commenced in other states prior to this event.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasized the pivotal role of cities in the resolution for a developed India. He noted that historical development had been confined to a few major cities post-independence, but the government is now prioritizing the development of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Discussing initiatives like the Amrit Mission and SMART City Mission, the PM highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance basic facilities in smaller cities. Upgrades in water supply, drainage, sewage systems, traffic management, CCTV networks, and more are being consistently implemented. PM Modi emphasized the significance of cleanliness, public toilets, and LED street lights, stating their direct impact on improving the quality of life and business environments.
PM Modi expressed his vision for a developed India, stating that the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, initiated a month ago, has already reached thousands of villages and 1,500 cities. He urged state governments to swiftly expand the yatra in their respective regions, emphasizing that the citizens themselves have taken charge of this journey.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, during a virtual interaction with yatra beneficiaries, highlighted PM Modi's concern that no one should be left behind. The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra aims to benefit the entire population of 140 crore people, providing information and empowerment regarding government schemes.
The nationwide initiative, launched on November 15 in Khunti, Jharkhand, conducts health camps as part of on-the-spot services. These camps, organized at the yatra's halt locations in Gram Panchayats, contribute to the success of the initiative. As of November 26, 5,470 health camps have been conducted in 995 Gram Panchayats, with over 7,82,000 people benefiting from these services. The yatra focuses on achieving the saturation of government flagship schemes, ensuring timely delivery of benefits to targeted beneficiaries across the country.
