PM Modi interacts with recipients of Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attended a program at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital to mark Veer Baal Diwas. During the event, he interacted with the 2024 recipients of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, lauding their exceptional achievements.

Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious awards on 17 children across seven categories at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. The awards recognize the young achievers for their outstanding contributions in fields such as innovation, bravery, and social service.

Prime Minister Modi also launched the Suposhit Gram Panchayat Abhiyan, aimed at enhancing nutrition and well-being in rural areas. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the initiative seeks to improve the delivery of nutrition-related services through stronger implementation strategies and active community involvement.

The PMO highlighted that a variety of initiatives will be organized nationwide to engage young minds and spread awareness about Veer Baal Diwas. Activities such as interactive quizzes, storytelling sessions, creative writing exercises, and poster-making competitions will take place at schools, child care institutions, and Anganwadi centres. Online events, including competitions hosted on the MyGov and MyBharat portals, will further encourage public participation.

The origins of Veer Baal Diwas trace back to January 9, 2022, when PM Modi announced December 26 as a day to honor the bravery and sacrifices of Sahibzades, the sons of Guru Gobind Singh. The day pays tribute to their resilience and commitment to justice in the face of adversity.

PM Modi also paid homage to Sahibzades in a post on X , reflecting on their unwavering courage and adherence to principles at a young age. “Today, on Veer Baal Diwas, we remember the unparalleled bravery and sacrifice of the Sahibzades. At a young age, they stood firm in their faith and principles, inspiring generations with their courage,” the Prime Minister stated. He also acknowledged the sacrifice of Mata Gujri Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji, expressing hope that their legacy would inspire the nation to foster a just and compassionate society.
