Expressing joy in recognizing familiar faces from last year's Tamil Puthandu celebrations, Prime Minister Modi thanked Union Minister L. Murugan for the invitation.
During his address, the Prime Minister referenced various ongoing festivities, including Lohri and Makar Sankranti, extending his best wishes to citizens across the country.
Quoting the revered saint Thiruvalluvar, PM Modi emphasized the crucial role of educated citizens, honest businessmen, and a thriving agricultural sector in nation-building. He underscored the connection between festivals and the rural community, with special mention of Pongal's tradition of offering freshly harvested crops to God, recognizing the pivotal role of farmers.
Highlighting the significance of drawing Kolam, a traditional design during Pongal, Prime Minister Modi drew parallels to India's diversity. He noted that the country's strength manifests when every corner emotionally connects with one another, reflecting the national spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”
The Prime Minister expressed delight in the growing awareness about millets, acknowledging the positive impact on farmers engaged in millet farming. He praised the entrepreneurial spirit of the youth in taking up startup ventures related to millets.
Further, PM Modi emphasized the importance of unity, stating that the feeling of unity is the key force to build a developed India by 2047. He called for a rededication to strengthening the nation's unity on the auspicious occasion of Pongal.
