PM Modi meets Qualcomm CEO, discusses India’s AI innovation and semiconductor push

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a meeting with Cristiano R. Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, focusing on India’s advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, and skill development, reinforcing the country’s position as a global technology hub.

During the discussions, PM Modi lauded Qualcomm’s commitment to supporting India’s Semiconductor Mission and IndiaAI Mission, initiatives aimed at bolstering the nation’s technological capabilities. Highlighting India’s vast talent pool and market scale, the Prime Minister emphasized the country’s potential to develop cutting-edge technologies that could shape the global future.

In response, Amon expressed gratitude for the insightful exchange and underscored Qualcomm’s intent to deepen its partnership with India. He highlighted opportunities to build a robust Indian ecosystem across sectors such as AI-powered smartphones, personal computers, smart glasses, automotive, and industrial applications. The Qualcomm CEO also noted the collaboration’s role in advancing India’s transition to 6G technology.

Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, “It was a wonderful meeting with Mr. Cristiano R. Amon and discussing India’s strides in AI, innovation and skilling. Great to see Qualcomm’s commitment towards India’s semiconductor and AI missions. India offers unmatched talent and scale to build technologies that will shape our collective future.”
