PM Modi receives warm welcome from Macron ahead of AI Summit in Paris

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Paris, expressing enthusiasm for the AI Action Summit, which the two leaders will co-chair. Macron also extended a warm greeting to United States Vice President JD Vance, who is attending the summit.

Sharing a post on X, Macron wrote, “Welcome to Paris, my friend @NarendraModi! Nice to meet you dear @VP Vance! Welcome to all our partners for the AI Action Summit. Let’s get to work!” Earlier, PM Modi had posted on X, “Delighted to meet my friend, President Macron in Paris.” He also shared moments from his arrival, where he was greeted by members of the Indian diaspora, some of whom sang ‘Hare Krishna’ while awaiting his arrival.

The Prime Minister is set to co-chair the AI Action Summit alongside the French President, engaging with global leaders and tech industry executives to explore AI-driven advancements for the public good.

PM Modi’s visit carries diplomatic and strategic significance, aligning with efforts to strengthen Indo-French relations. As part of this, he and Macron will jointly inaugurate India’s first consulate in Marseille, marking a key step in bilateral engagement. The leaders will also review progress on the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, an initiative aimed at deepening long-term cooperation across crucial sectors.

During his stay, PM Modi will accompany Macron to Marseille to visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, a landmark initiative in nuclear fusion research. In a gesture of historical remembrance, he will also pay tribute to Indian soldiers at the Mazargues War Cemetery, honouring their sacrifices in the World Wars.

Following his engagements in France, PM Modi will depart for the United States for a two-day visit at the invitation of President Donald Trump.
