PM Modi to cast vote in Ahmedabad during phase 3 of Lok Sabha Elections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to cast his vote at Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad during the third phase of Lok Sabha polls on Tuesday.

Preparations are underway at the school, which is serving as a designated polling booth for the upcoming elections.

To raise awareness about voting among the youth, a ‘Run for Vote’ marathon was organized in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning. This event was part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) drive aimed at promoting the importance of 100% voter turnout.

Ashok B Patel, Joint CEO of SVEEP, highlighted the significance of the ‘Run for Vote’ marathon in encouraging youth to participate in the electoral process on May 7.

The Election Commission has been actively running a voting awareness campaign to urge citizens to exercise their franchise in the ongoing Lok Sabha election.

In Gujarat, where the BJP swept all 26 seats in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Congress has allied with the AAP. The Congress will contest from 24 seats, while the AAP will field its candidates in Bhavnagar and Bharuch constituencies.

Voting for 25 out of 26 seats in Gujarat is scheduled for the third phase of the general elections on May 7. However, voting will not take place in Surat, as BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was declared elected unopposed last week. This decision came after the nomination of Congress’ Nilesh Kumbhani was rejected, and other candidates withdrew from the contest.

The election results for Gujarat and other states participating in the third phase will be announced on June 4.
