PM Modi to dedicate projects worth Rs 29,400 crore in Mumbai visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Mumbai on Saturday, where he will launch, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for various projects valued at approximately Rs 29,400 crore, according to an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary begins at 5:30 PM at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, where he will launch multiple projects in the road, railways, and ports sectors.

At 7 PM, Modi will inaugurate the Indian News Service (INS) Towers at the INS Secretariat in Bandra Kurla Complex. This new facility aims to meet the evolving needs of INS members, providing a modern and efficient office space that will serve as the nerve center for Mumbai’s newspaper industry.

Key projects to be initiated includes, the Rs 16,600 crore Thane-Borivali Tunnel Project: This 11.8 km twin-tube tunnel will pass beneath Sanjay Gandhi National Park, reducing travel time between Thane and Borivali by 12 Km with a saving of about 1 hour in travel time.

The Rs 6,300 crore Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Project: This 6.65 km road will connect Western Express Highway at Goregaon to Eastern Express Highway at Mulund, improving access to the proposed Navi Mumbai airport and Pune-Mumbai Expressway.

Kalyan Yard Remodelling and Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe: The remodelling will increase the yard’s capacity to handle more trains, reducing congestion and improving the efficiency of train operations. The Gati Shakti MultiModal Cargo Terminal in Navi Mumbai will be built in an area of more than 32600 sq mtrs.

It will provide additional employment opportunities to the local people and will cater as an additional terminal for handling Cement and other commodities.

New platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and extension of platforms at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station.

Platform no. 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station have been extended by 382 meters with a cover shed and washable apron. It will help in the augmentation of the trains up to 24 coaches thus increasing the number of passengers carried.

Prime Minister will also launch the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana with an outlay of around Rs 5600 crore. It is an internship program aimed at addressing youth unemployment by providing opportunities for skill enhancement and industry exposure for youth aged 18 to 30 years.
