PM Modi to visit Uttarakhand on Thursday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Uttarakhand on March 6, where he will take part in religious rituals and flag off key tourism initiatives. His visit comes as part of the state’s Winter Tourism Programme, which aims to promote religious tourism and boost the local economy.

According to the official itinerary, the Prime Minister will begin his visit by offering prayers at the temple in Mukhwa, which is regarded as the winter abode of Goddess Ganga since the main shrine in Gangotri becomes inaccessible during the harsh winter months.

Following the religious ceremony, at around 10:40 AM, PM Modi will flag off a trek and bike rally in Harsil, a scenic Himalayan town known for its spiritual and natural beauty. He will also address a public gathering in Harsil, where he is expected to highlight the government’s efforts to strengthen tourism and local livelihoods in Uttarakhand.

The Winter Tourism Programme, launched by the Uttarakhand government this year, has already drawn thousands of devotees to the winter seats of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The initiative aims to promote year-round pilgrimage tourism, benefiting local businesses, homestays, and tourism-related enterprises.
