Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Bengaluru-based Prayoga Institute of Education Research for its ‘Anveshana’ initiative, which promotes experiential science learning among school students, during the 132nd edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat.
Speaking to ANI, Prayoga’s Founder and Chief Mentor, H S Nagaraja, said the Prime Minister’s recognition has boosted the organisation’s confidence and could inspire the establishment of similar centres across the country.
“Prayoga was founded a decade ago with a focus on educational research. We aim to generate data to ensure that every child in the country can one day learn science through experience. Without experience, knowledge remains mere information and serves little purpose. The National Education Policy also emphasises experiential learning, which aligns with our work,” Nagaraja said.
He added that the mention in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has strengthened their resolve. “We hope this initiative helps nurture future scientists from India. More such centres should be established to drive the country’s progress,” he said.
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted Prayoga’s ‘Anveshana’ programme, which enables students from Classes 9 to 12 to innovate in fields such as Chemistry, Earth Science, and Wellness, while also providing a platform to publish their research.
“I came across a unique educational initiative in Bengaluru. A team is working to popularise science education at the school level through research-based projects. Their ‘Anveshana’ programme offers students hands-on experience and an opportunity to publish their work,” Modi said.
He noted that many students had expressed interest in studying science but were often intimidated by it. Praising the initiative, he said, “Such efforts make science accessible and engaging. When students learn by doing, curiosity naturally follows. Who knows, one of these young minds could become a leading scientist in the future.”
