President Murmu confers distinguished, meritorious service medals on 16 RPF/RPSF personnel

President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) on 16 officers and personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) on the occasion of Independence Day 2026.

Rajesh Lal, Assistant Security Commissioner at the Railway Board, has been awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service in recognition of his distinguished service.

Fifteen other officers and personnel have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service.

The recipients include Satya Prakash, Principal Chief Security Commissioner, North Eastern Railway; C. S. Chengappa, Assistant Security Commissioner, Southern Railway; Krishna Kumar Mishra, Assistant Security Commissioner, North Eastern Railway; and Vivek Verma, Assistant Security Commissioner, North Central Railway.

Among the other awardees are Inspectors Moni Taro and Barun Prasad Laheri of the Railway Protection Special Force, along with Sub Inspectors H. K. Doddaiah of South Western Railway, Kailash Prasad of North Eastern Railway, Naresh Kumar of Northern Railway and Guru Prasad Nagarikanti of South Central Railway.

Assistant Sub Inspectors Ram Prasad Meena (MT) of the Railway Protection Special Force, E. Arun Moli of Southern Railway, Vikas Kumar of North Central Railway and Niraj Ahlawat of Northern Railway have also been conferred the MSM.

Shankar Shivswami Edle, Head Constable, Central Railway, is the final recipient of the Medal for Meritorious Service.

The awards recognise the dedication, professionalism and exemplary service of RPF and RPSF personnel in maintaining security and safeguarding railway passengers and infrastructure across the country.
