President Droupadi Murmu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday extended greetings to the people on the eve of Janmashtami, highlighting the timeless teachings of Lord Shri Krishna and calling for a commitment to truth, righteousness, harmony and service.
In her message, President Murmu extended her heartfelt greetings and best wishes to Indians in the country and abroad on the auspicious occasion.
The President said the life and teachings of Lord Shri Krishna have enriched India’s cultural and philosophical heritage and shown humanity the path of truth, righteousness, justice, compassion and selfless service.
She said the teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita continue to serve as an eternal source of inspiration, particularly in making prudent decisions during difficult circumstances and remaining steadfast in moral values.
President Murmu said the festival of Janmashtami inspires people to uphold harmony and strengthen their devotion to duty and service.
She called upon people to resolve to follow the ideals of Lord Shri Krishna and work towards building an inclusive and developed India.
Om Birla highlights timeless message of Bhagavad Gita
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also extended greetings and best wishes to the people on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
Recalling the devotion associated with Lord Krishna, Birla said the love and reverence for Krishna among devotees in India and across the world is boundless.
He highlighted the childhood stories of Krishna and the affection with which devotees refer to him as Kanha and Kanhaiya.
Birla said Lord Shri Krishna’s teachings offer profound insights into the realities of life. He described the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, delivered by Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of the Mahabharata, as a timeless guide on duty, ethics, justice, wisdom, courage and balance in life.
He said the Bhagavad Gita has remained a guiding light for humanity for centuries and is regarded as the soul of India’s philosophical tradition.
Birla emphasised that Krishna’s teachings show that even in difficult circumstances, those who remain firmly committed to truth and righteousness ultimately emerge victorious.
On the occasion, the Lok Sabha Speaker prayed for happiness and peace in every home, faith in every heart and renewed energy and enthusiasm in every life.
He also expressed hope that the nation and society would continue to move forward on the path of truth, justice and humanity.
Both leaders called for the values associated with Lord Shri Krishna to inspire people beyond the festival and guide their conduct and commitment towards society and the nation.
