President Murmu, PM Modi pay homage to Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid their tributes to Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary. Recognizing Vivekananda’s role in spreading India's spiritual message to the West, President Murmu highlighted his contributions to cultural heritage awareness and nation-building, emphasizing his impact on inspiring the youth.

Prime Minister Modi also paid his respects, acknowledging Swami Vivekananda's global influence in establishing Indian spirituality and culture. He praised Vivekananda's energetic thoughts and messages, expressing confidence in their enduring inspiration for the youth.

Born on January 12, 1863, in Calcutta, Swami Vivekananda is globally renowned as an Indian monk who introduced Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the world. He is particularly remembered for his impactful speech at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago.  His birth anniversary is celebrated as National Youth Day across India.

National Youth Day

The annual National Youth Festival in India provides talented youth with exposure at the national level, encouraging them to participate and contribute to nation-building. It showcases the cultural diversity of India, offering a common platform for participants nationwide to exhibit glimpses of their distinct cultures.

To mark the day, PM Modi inaugurated the 27th National Youth Festival in Nashik, Maharashtra, addressing the youth of the nation. The festival is also being celebrated by various field organizations of the Department of Youth Affairs across districts in collaboration with multiple government departments.
