Southern Naval Command hosts “Aatmanirbhar Air Arm Seminar for Indian Navy 2023”

The Southern Naval Command, Kochi, hosted a two-day seminar, “Aatmanirbhar Air Arm of the Indian Navy 2023,” from November 13 to 14. The event, held under the auspices of Headquarters Naval Aviation, was presided over by Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff.

In his keynote address on Monday, Admiral Kumar emphasized the crucial need for a self-reliant approach in addressing challenges within the maritime domain, particularly highlighting its relevance to the Indian Naval Aviation sector. Acknowledging ongoing efforts to localize spares and critical components for aircraft manufacturing in the country, Admiral Kumar expressed optimism about the growing potential of the Indian industry. Stressing the paramount importance of flight safety, he called for rigorous checks and a reevaluation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to minimize aircraft accidents.

The event served as a platform for aviation experts to convene and explore contemporary technology, aiming to invigorate the indigenization process. The seminar's significance lies in its unique effort to explore avenues for achieving self-reliance in Naval aviation, aligning with the overarching vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

In a ceremony marking the occasion, various naval squadrons and flights were honored for their outstanding performance. Admiral Kumar presented a spot commendation to Cdr Abhishek Tomar, along with Defence civilians Gitesh Shenoy MCM(AR) and Joseph Tom CM (AR), for their contributions to indigenization efforts, leading to the optimal utilization of Seaking helicopters—a true embodiment of the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
