Union Minister Piyush Goyal to visit New Zealand to boost bilateral economic ties

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will visit New Zealand on Wednesday, November 5, to engage with Todd McClay, Minister for Trade of New Zealand, on ongoing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations. The visit underlines both countries’ commitment to expedite the FTA process and strengthen their economic partnership.

The fourth round of India–New Zealand FTA negotiations began in Auckland on November 3, marking a key step in enhancing bilateral trade and economic dialogue.

During the visit, Goyal will participate in high-level engagements to boost trade, investment, and innovation linkages between the two nations. He will meet prominent members of the New Zealand business community and the visiting Indian business delegation to facilitate stronger private sector collaboration.

A New Zealand–India Business Forum is scheduled in Auckland, followed by a community interaction event with members of the Indian diaspora. A Fireside Chat between Goyal and Minister Todd McClay, moderated by Simon Bridges, CEO of the Auckland Business Chamber, will focus on advancing trade cooperation, exploring new areas of economic convergence, and promoting innovation, technology, and sustainable growth.
