Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, held a series of high-level review meetings in Shillong to assess the implementation of key centrally sponsored schemes, including Poshan Abhiyan, Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya. The visit is part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen grassroots service delivery in the North East.
In discussions with officials from Meghalaya’s Social Welfare Department, the Minister emphasised improving Anganwadi Centre infrastructure, ensuring high-quality supplementary nutrition under ICDS, leveraging technology for real-time monitoring, and enhancing community engagement and capacity building.
She also chaired a review with the East Khasi Hills District Administration, joined by MLA Ollan Singh Suin and officials from various departments, focusing on welfare, health, education, and rural development projects.
Praising the state’s dedication despite infrastructure challenges, Thakur said, “Officials are working tirelessly to implement schemes effectively. Regular updates on the Poshan Tracker help the Ministry address on-ground needs swiftly.”
Reaffirming commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat, the Minister noted that empowering women and children remains central to inclusive national development.
