World Green Economy Summit 2025 Opens in Dubai with Global Call for Green Innovation

The 11th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) opened today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, drawing more than 3,300 participants from over 30 countries. Policymakers, business leaders, investors, and innovators are attending the two-day gathering under the theme “Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy.” The focus reflects Dubai’s positioning as a global hub for sustainable development and climate action.

Co-located with the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2025), the summit highlights collaborative efforts to achieve net-zero targets and advance green transformation. Discussions on the opening day centered on technology integration, policy frameworks, climate finance, equity, and youth engagement as critical drivers of change. Sessions also underscored the importance of small and medium enterprises in pioneering sustainable technologies, alongside policy reforms to accelerate global climate goals.

Naila Farouky, CEO of the Arab Foundations Forum, said: “The climate crisis demands regional solutions. With the first Arab Regional Climate Commitment, AFF is bringing together foundations, civil society, and public and private actors to forge a unified response – one that centres local realities and long-term sustainability. This helps philanthropy in the Arab region meet its responsibility to back bold ideas, frontline communities and long-term solutions rooted in equity and care.”

Featuring nearly 80 international speakers from government, industry, and academia, WGES 2025 offers a comprehensive agenda aimed at forging partnerships and actionable commitments. Key topics include renewable energy, circular economies, and equitable climate strategies, with a particular emphasis on accountability and transparency in sustainability pledges. The Global Alliance on Green Economy (GAGE) will also unveil its 2024–2025 portfolio, presenting flagship initiatives designed to support member countries in their transition toward greener economies.
