Worshiping Maa Ambe during Navratri evokes deep emotions: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended his greetings to the nation on the fourth day of Chaitra Navratri, highlighting the emotional significance of worshiping Maa Ambe during this sacred period.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Worshiping Maa Ambe during Navratri makes all devotees emotional.” He also shared a devotional song dedicated to the Mother goddess, saying, “This prayer, devoted to the forms of the goddess, offers a divine experience. Listen to it…”

The devotional song, Amba Stavam by 9 Ambas, is performed by nine young girls in reverence to the goddess.

This year, as per the Hindu calendar, the fourth and fifth days of Navratri are being observed together. On these days, goddess Durga is worshipped in her forms as Kushmanda and Mata Skandamata.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also marked the occasion by sharing Sanskrit shlokas and devotional messages on his X handle. He wrote, “I pray to Maa Kushmanda, the fourth form of goddess Shakti, the bestower of perfections and treasures, to bless all devotees and the people of the state with happiness and prosperity.”

In another post, he added, “Worshipping Skandamata, the fifth form of Adishakti Maa Durga, paves the way for progress and development. I pray to Jagatjanani for her divine blessings upon the entire world. Jai Maa Skandamata!”

Goddess Kushmanda, known as the creator of the universe, is symbolized by a radiant smile that brings life. Her name is derived from Ku (little), Ushma (warmth or life energy), and Anda (cosmic egg), meaning “the creator of a little cosmic egg.” She represents prosperity, health, and courage and is regarded as the supreme divinity of the solar system in Hindu philosophy. Devotees believe that worshiping her grants them the strength to overcome ailments, sorrows, and imperfections.

Goddess Skandamata symbolizes motherhood, compassion, and the power to guide her devotees toward both spiritual and material success.

Navratri, meaning “nine nights” in Sanskrit, is a Hindu festival dedicated to goddess Durga and her nine divine forms, collectively known as Navdurga. The festival is celebrated with immense devotion across India, with rituals and prayers honouring the goddess in her various manifestations.

During this time, devotees visit temples, offering flowers, fruits, and prayers to seek the goddess’s blessings for protection, guidance, and well-being.
