Abu Dhabi launched its inaugural Global Food Week (GFW) on Tuesday, setting the stage for a comprehensive exploration of worldwide food security challenges through November 28. The event, organized by ADNEC Group and the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, brings together international stakeholders to address critical issues in agricultural sustainability and climate change.
The centerpiece of the week, the Global Food Security Summit , will convene 21 ministers and government officials alongside 80 international speakers at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre on November 26 and 27. These decision-makers and experts will focus on developing practical strategies for sustainable food systems, exploring climate-smart agriculture, agricultural technology, and supply chain innovations.
Running parallel to the summit, the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition showcases cutting-edge developments in food technology and sustainability, featuring over 660 exhibitors from more than 70 countries. A highlight of the exhibition is the Future Food Museum, which demonstrates zero-waste practices and innovations in food design.
The Abu Dhabi Date Palm Exhibition, marking its 10th year, adds another dimension to the week’s events by highlighting the UAE’s significant role in the international dates sector. Representatives from more than 20 date-producing nations will share insights on sustainable farming practices, supported by the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation.
This comprehensive event series aims to strengthen international cooperation in combating hunger and enhancing global food security systems through practical solutions and strategic partnerships. The gathering represents a significant step forward in addressing worldwide food security challenges while promoting sustainable agricultural practices for future generations.
