Lok Sabha adjourned sine die a day before conclusion of Winter Session

Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Thursday, a day ahead of the scheduled close of the winter session of Parliament, after the House passed some key bills, including that related to appointment of CEC and election commissioners and a bill to replace Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867.

The Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023 and the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023 were passed on Thursday.

Providing information about this Lok Sabha session, Speaker Om Birla mentioned that in the 14th session of the 17th Lok Sabha, which began on December 4, there were 14 sittings with 61.50 hours of work. The session had a productivity rate of 74 percent. A total of 12 bills were presented and 18 bills were passed.
