Authorities at the Kedarnath Temple have imposed a complete ban on the use of mobile phones within the temple premises to maintain the sanctity of the shrine and ensure a peaceful experience for devotees.
A member of the temple committee, Vineet Posti, said the decision was taken keeping in mind both the spiritual atmosphere of the temple and the convenience of pilgrims. He clarified that carrying mobile phones inside the premises, taking photographs or videos, and creating social media reels are strictly prohibited. Devotees found violating the rules may face legal action.
The temple committee has urged visitors to adhere to the guidelines and maintain religious decorum to ensure a serene and spiritually enriching darshan for all.
Meanwhile, the administration in Rudraprayag has put in place a comprehensive traffic management plan ahead of the upcoming Kedarnath Yatra. The plan focuses on ensuring smooth and safe movement of pilgrims, with special emphasis on regulating traffic flow and preventing congestion along the route.
Officials said arrangements have been strengthened from national highways to connecting roads to handle the expected surge in pilgrim traffic. Adequate police personnel will be deployed at key locations to regulate vehicle movement, manage congestion, and maintain discipline throughout the yatra route.
To further ease traffic pressure, both permanent and temporary parking facilities have been set up along the route. These measures are aimed at improving convenience and ensuring the safety of devotees.
Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar said a detailed and structured traffic plan has been prepared in coordination with neighbouring districts. “The traffic system has been divided into two super zones and 11 sectors. Additionally, 13 mobile force teams have been constituted, and a diversion plan will be implemented if traffic pressure increases,” she said.
Authorities added that the division into zones and sectors will allow better monitoring and quicker response to traffic-related challenges. Mobile teams have also been deployed to handle real-time situations, especially during peak hours.
These measures are part of broader preparations by the district administration to ensure a safe, smooth, and well-organised Kedarnath Yatra for pilgrims.
