Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh witnessed CSIR-CDRI activities

Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and Vice President, CSIR on his visit to Lucknow on December 26, 2023 had witnessed the CSIR-CDRI activities as presented by Dr. Radha Rangarajan, Director CSIR-CDRI and other Scientists & Staff of CSIR- CDRI, at UPIDR, Lucknow, in the presence of Directors of CSIR Laboratories (CSIR-CIMAP, CSIR-NBRI & CSIR-IITR) based in Lucknow. 
The Director, Dr. Radha Rangarajan showcased a comprehensive overview of scientific achievements and exceptional contributions across various disease areas. The presentation provided an overview of major scientific breakthroughs, drugs discovered and developed by CSIR-CDRI, and glimpses of promising new drugs in the pipeline.

Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh, expressed his keen interest in the presentation and appreciated the institute's commitment to advancing healthcare through innovative research. He stressed on the importance of fostering Academic and Industrial collaborations towards impactful research outcomes. He urged the representatives of the industry to share the problems faced at their end for solutions from academic and research institutions like CSIR-CDRI. He invited enhanced participation of academic and research institutions towards nurturing the Start-ups and MSME entities for providing Indian Medicines for Indian Diseases and Indian expertise for solving Indian problems.   

Union Minister engaged in insightful discussions with scientists, delving into the challenges faced in the field of drug development and the potential solutions that could drive progress. While addressing the group scientists, research scholars and staff, he further mentioned that collaborations within CSIR institutes, as well as among the academic, research and medical institutions in Lucknow / Uttar Pradesh or even by extending it to IITs for the enhanced scope of translation of research outcomes and technologies, for the benefit of the society. He further expressed his intent to pay a visit to CSIR-CDRI in person shortly.

CSIR-CDRI family expressed their gratitude to Dr. Jitendra Singh for his insights and his support in the pursuit of scientific excellence and affordable healthcare solutions.
