Aiming to rekindle India’s ancient legacy of temples as economic and spiritual pillars, MyGold, a gold mobilization platform, and Temple Connect, an organization engaged in temple digitization and community engagement, have announced a collaboration to launch the Swarna Daan initiative. This program aims to achieve this objective by encouraging gold donations starting from as low as INR 10. The partnership unveiled recently, marks a significant step towards onboarding 1,000 temples across India by the end of 2025.
The Swarna Daan initiative seeks to blend tradition and modern financial solutions, enabling temples to become centers of sustainable growth and community empowerment. The initiative also enhances devotee engagement by making donations seamless and inclusive. Using QR codes or the MyGold app, devotees can contribute gold with ease, starting from INR 10, making the bond between temples and their communities more inclusive.
With MyGold, India’s first Gold leasing platform, temples can increase their holdings significantly over the years. Additionally, by accepting gold donations, temples can harness the historical 11% CAGR growth in gold prices offered by MyGold, ensuring their assets grow substantially over time without reliance on external funding.
Amol Bansal, Founder of MyGold, said, “At MyGold, we strive to merge tradition with innovation, and the Swarna Daan initiative is a testament to this vision. By empowering devotees to contribute their faith in the form of gold, we are helping temples grow their resources sustainably. Together with Temple Connect, we aim to create a movement that strengthens India’s cultural and economic fabric, reviving the spirit of ‘Sone Ki Chidiya”.
The Swarna Daan initiative tries to revolutionize how temples manage and grow their donations. By accepting contributions in 24kt gold, temples can benefit meaningfully from this. The Swarna Daan initiative embraces technology and simplifies donations, unlocking the untapped potential of gold to serve society. Gold donations are securely stored with MMTC-PAMP, a Government of India undertaking, ensuring complete transparency and accountability, with temples having real-time visibility of their gold assets through a dedicated dashboard.
Girish Vasudev Kulkarni, Founder of Temple Connect, said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with MyGold in bringing the Swarna Daan initiative to life. This partnership bridges the gap between tradition and technology, making it easier for devotees to contribute meaningfully to their beloved temples. Our combined efforts will ensure temples are empowered to thrive as centers of spirituality, culture, and economic growth.”
By transforming idle gold into an asset that generates returns, temples can secure resources for future generations, ensuring their role as centers of cultural and spiritual prosperity continue. The flexibility of 24/7 access to physical gold or its cash equivalent ensures that temples can fund community initiatives, welfare programs, or infrastructural projects without constraints.
